Selected Research Projects
Schistosomiasis: Ecological Interactions Among Schistosomes, Snail Hosts, Human Hosts & Fish Predators - Over-harvesting of the snail-feeding cichlids in Lake Malawi, Zimbabwe has resulted in a dramatic decrease in the abudance of these molluscivores and a concomitant increase in the prevalence of schistosomiasis among village residents and expatriate tourists. We desiged a research program to study the potential of a biological control agen for schistosomiasis. Funded by the National Science Foundation.
